Rudyard Galvan is a distinguished graffiti artist based in San Diego, recognized for his innovative fusion of commercial and fine art. With a degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of California, Rudyard’s artistic journey is deeply rooted in personal experiences, particularly the loss of his younger brother and business partner to rapid onset leukemia. This profound event has shaped his commitment to art as a means of empowerment and healing, driving him to engage with at-risk youth organizations throughout the San Diego area.
Rudyard’s collaborative efforts with fellow artist Florian Reid have led to significant projects, including the establishment of Little Saigon's Art Corridor, an initiative focused on creating culturally relevant murals in one of San Diego’s most vibrant districts. In 2019, he and Reid received the San Diego Section Award for Urban Design Achievement for their impactful work supporting the Somali micro-community in City Heights.
In addition to his community-focused endeavors, Rudyard has made substantial contributions to the art industry, setting new design standards for the USA Women’s Olympic and Daytona pit crew team uniforms. He has also directed the jersey designs for collegiate baseball, softball, and volleyball teams nationwide during his time at Savy Customs.
Rudyard's artwork has been exhibited in numerous galleries and businesses, with his most recent showings at La Bodega Art Gallery. His work is inspired by his inner-city upbringing and Chicano roots, reflecting a deep connection to cultural identity and social themes. Recently diagnosed with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada Disease, Rudyard has found a renewed creative drive, channeling his experiences into explorative and evocative pieces.
As an artist dedicated to both individual expression and community impact, Rudyard Galvan is poised to bring a unique and compelling perspective to any gallery collection.
